<div itemprop="description">Vujasinovic, Jovan<br>1929 - 2017<br><br>An eternal optimist and tireless contributor, Jovan’s life journey came to a peaceful close surrounded by his loving family in his 88th year, on January 6th, 2017, in Mississauga, Canada. Jovan is survived by: his beloved wife of 62 years Milosava (nee Komadinic); two daughters, Natasa (Radoslav Veljovic) and Dragana Jasmine (Adrian Hartog); grandchildren, Sonja (James), Marko, Katarina, Aleksa (Charles), Natalia, Philippa; and great-grandson Henry.<br><br>An innate entrepreneur and master tradesman, Jovan left his home at 35 Molerova, Belgrade, Serbia in October 1962, with the vision and tenacity to achieve greater personal freedoms and working opportunities in North America. Reaching and working in Germany, he applied for entrance to Canada at the Canadian Consulate in Stuttgart. He was granted papers and arrived into Halifax aboard the Q.S.S. Arkadia on May 17, 1963. Immediately getting a job and saving to fly his young family to Toronto, they were reunited on March 23, 1964. Jovan was a very proud Canadian, he often expressed his feelings of deep gratitude for life in Canada.<br><br>As a self-employed contract trucker at Dufferin Aggregates Milton Quarry for 35 years and with his lifelong relentless work habits, Jovan was a proud contributor to the booming construction industry in the GTA through a wide range of infrastructure projects, including the development of the CN Tower, hospitals, schools, roads, and bridges. As an avid volunteer and patron, Jovan was honoured to be a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. With his boundless energy he contributed towards the construction and creation of church communities, most notably to the Serbian Orthodox Holy Transfiguration Monastery complex, Campbellville and All Serbian Saints Church, Mississauga; in both locations Jovan has been distinguished for these contributions. <br><br>Jovan’s knowledge of world history and civilization, his genuine empathy for the human condition worldwide and throughout time, and his gracious sharing of these stories made him a remarkable raconteur.<br><br>Born in Aleksandrovo, Macedonia, former Yugoslavia, in 1929; Jovan was fourth of eight living children to his parents Nikolaj Vujasinovic and Ljubica (nee Popic), who were born in Dalmatia. In September 1941, his farming family were among war refugees and with only the clothes on their backs, journeyed to Paracin, Serbia. He is survived by three sisters in Belgrade, Desa, Dara, and Ruza and many nieces and nephews across Europe.<br><br>The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 14 at 1pm, at All Serbian Saints Church, 2520 Dixie Road, Mississauga ON. Interment and memorial reception to follow at Holy Transfiguration Monastery, 7470 McNiven Rd, Campbellville, ON. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the All Serbian Saints Church, the Royal Ontario Museum or a charity of your choice.
