It is with deep sadness that the Mazurkiewicz family announces the passing of Henry Joseph Mazurkiewicz on November 11th at the age of 66. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at home in Wyevale surrounded by his family and in the loving arms of his best friend and soul mate, Sandy.
As both a student and a teacher at Michael Power High School, Hank touched the lives of so many over the years with his contagious smile and encouraging manner. Hank was often sought-out for his Cliff-like knowledge of trivia, his culinary advice and his efforts as a handyman.
Henry is survived by his loving wife Sandy; his mother Mary; his sisters Cynthia and Jody, and her son Kevin; his children, Sean and Amanda, Alison and Dave and Jaclyn and Blake. His adored grandchildren Emily, Anna, Isla, Liam and Jack will deeply miss their Dziadzi. He was loved by sister-in-law Debbie and her family, Mike, Courtney, Kaylee and Danica, as well as brother-in-law Doug and his family Linda, Alex and Nick. Henry’s memory will not be forgotten by the many other friends and family who had the pleasure of sitting at his dinner table or sharing laughs around the campfires over the years.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their warm and compassionate care throughout Henry’s treatment. We would also like to express our sincere and overwhelming gratitude to the Bayshore Home Health nursing team, in particular Cheryl and Mary Ellen, and Dr C Cochrane for their exceptional care and dedication to keeping Henry comfortable in his home during his final days.
The family has requested that any donations be made in Henry's memory to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer program at Royal Victoria Hospital and Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Fuck Cancer.
